DR. SCHNEIDER is a widely sought-after lecturer and author. She has
developed a Speech-Language Movement Therapy technique and other infant
parent relationship strategies that have been presented to international,
national and state conferences of therapists, educators and parents. She
has presented for UNESCO, Head Start, Early Head Start, State of California’s
Early Start Governor’s Conference, Southern California Education Association
for Young Children, International Association of Infant Massage, American
Speech-Language and Hearing Association and others. She is the co-author
of Pictures Please and author of Expressions from the Heart and The Power
of Touch. Dr. Schneider has written for Massage Magazine, and her poem,
A Joyous Welcome was the recognized poem for the International Association
of Infant Massage. Her forthcoming book entitled Massaging Your Baby:
The Power of Touch Communication. will be out in February 2005.
Dr. Schneider is the longest sitting governor appointee to the State
Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Intervention for infants and
toddlers with disabilities and their families. She is an adjunct faculty
member in the psychology and special education departments for California
State University at Bakersfield, Antelope Valley campus. She has
been nominated to numerous Who's Who publications, and has received Distinguished
Service awards from state, county and professional organizations. Dr. Schneider
is a Fellow of the California Speech- Language Hearing Association (CSHA)
and is a board member for the Infant Development Association of California,
and the Family Focus Resource Center.
Dr. Schneider is the founder and executive director of Community Therapies/Baby
Steps, since 1981, serving over two hundred infants, toddlers, children
and their families annually in the Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita Valley,
Ca. Dr. Schneider has served as a consultant to the State Dept. of
Education and as a member of the Infant Mental Health Initiative.
She has received grants promoting infant-parent relationships through nurturing
touch communication. Baby Steps is one of the Centers of Excellence
for L.A.County’s Infant Mental Health Project and Community Therapies is
a training site for universities around the country for students in the
fields of occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and early intervention.
Dr. Elaine’s TouchTime Natural Products were developed to meet the need
