What Are Social Skills Groups?
The Social Skills Groups are designed to develop and strengthen
relationships and social skills in children. These groups will combine
with basic teaching of life skills such as:
* Empathy for others
* Impulse control
* Anger management
* Avoiding victimization
* Relaxation
* Sensitivity
* Delaying gratification
What Can My Child Expect?
Fun and creative activities that are designed to focus
on ten skill areas which progressively build upon another.
These include:
* Enjoyment
* Reference
* Reciprocity
* Repair
* Co-creation
* We-go
* Social memories
* Maintenance
* Alliance
* Acceptance
Why Social Skills Group Therapies?
Group therapy provides:
* A forum for social rehearsal
* Role modeling
* Allows child to have his or her individual strengths
and challenges examined and validated in a safe environment with a trained
facilitator
Is There A Parent Group?
Yes. The parent support group provides:
* Networking with other families
* Discovering resources within the community and
other communities
* Learning to advocate for child and family
